What is a synthetic wig?

Synthetic wigs are prepared using plastic or acrylic fibers creating the look of real hair.

Often preferred by wig wearers as maintenance is comparatively less than a human hair piece.

How are Synthetic Wigs made?

Heated to a certain temperature to make them flex and move like real hair, the fibres are then woven into various different cap types to create a natural looking wig.

There has been a lot of research and development over the years and synthetic wigs now really do look and move like real hair making them a realistic option.

The man-made polymer fibres used to create synthetic hair are often paired with plastic. There are various types of plastic used some of which include:

  • Acrylonitrile
  • Polyethylene- terephthalateSilicone
  • Silk
  • Acrylic
  • PVC
  • Sigle-filament polyester
  • Vinyl
